Note: If you are unable to see the + button next to the Research Field you will need to scroll horizontally - You can add multiple Research Fields
Remove
- To remove a Research Field simply click on the x on the one you want to remove
Note: The research fields are based on the Australian and New Zealand Standard Research Classification (ANZSRC)
Types of reviewers
There are 2 types of Reviewers:
- General Reviewers will have access to the entire manuscript to read and assess.
- Technical Reviewers will only review the sections of the manuscript with the keywords that have matched with the technical reviewers keywords.
Calling Reviewers
There are two options for calling a reviewer:
- Option 1. Since the tool is new, there may be a few reviewers for your work. However, you use the email process in the tool to call researchers you know who are knowledgeable in your field and will give a full review
- Option 2. You can also add the keywords of your content, and if there are researchers already on the tool with matching keywords, it will tell you how many matching reviewers are found.
Option 1: Call your own reviewers
- Add in the Reviewers email address, if they already have a SciFree account you can add them straight away by clicking Add Reviewer.
- If the reviewer does not already have a SciFree account you can invite them to join.
- You can then add in their first and last name as well as personalised message to them.
Option 2: Use keywords to locate and call reviewers
General Reviewers
General Reviewers will have access to the entire manuscript to read and assess. You can call General Reviewers by adding keywords, it will then inform you immediately how many General Reviewers on the platform match your keywords
-
Add in your keywords in the text box using a comma to separate between terms. You will then see the number of reviewers located. These will automatically be called once you have clicked Start Review.
Note: If you find that you did not locate any reviewers. Try revising your keywords or calling your own reviewers.
Technical Reviewers
Technical Reviewers will only review the sections of the manuscript with the keywords that have matched with the Technical Reviewers keywords.
To do this, you can select a section and add keywords for each section so that it only calls reviewers who want to review the technique. For example, if they can only spend a few minutes and they know the experimental procedure well, they can review it for you and give you comments on that section or approve it. The more people see your work, the better, and the more technically sound each section is, the better the content.
- Select the section you want to call technique reviewers for and click add
- You can now enter your keywords and see if any Technical Reviewers have been located. If none have been located, you may want to try using other keywords or look to call General Reviewers
- To remove keywords for a section, simply click Remove on the row of the section keywords you want to remove
Submitting
When you are all done, click on Start Review at the bottom of the page.
The reviewers that you invited or were matched with will be called and will have approx. 7 days to accept or decline reviewing the manuscript. The timeout duration will be set by your University
Checking on review progress
In this view, you will be able to see whether they have accepted or if it is still waiting. In about 6-7 days you will see that it has timed out and are more than welcome to call another reviewer.
Review complete
When the manuscript has been reviewed all states will be showed to you in your authoring dashboard.
Accepted
If it is accepted it will automatically say published and all the versions of review will be shown, but only the latest version of the accepted document will be published.
Rejected
If it is rejected the manuscript will come back to you as Composing, which allows you to view the comments and correct and send it back to the same reviewer.
